Dubai: Indian carrier Indigo on Tuesday said its crew, who operated a Dubai-Bengaluru flight in which a passenger who tested positive for Coronavirus, have been placed under observation.
“The affected passenger in Hyderabad travelled on IndiGo flight 6E 96 on February 20, 2020,” the airline said in a press release.
It said all four cabin crew, who operated this flight, had been placed on home observation immediately with effect from March 2.
The news about the Covid-19 infection of the techie, who attended a meeting in Dubai where some people from Hong Kong were also present, broke on Monday.
Subsequently, the home quarantine of the crew was initiated.
The airline added that it is following all the prescribed Airport Health Organisation (APHO) guidelines and taking preventive measures for its crew operating flights to regions affected by Coronavirus.
Gulf News contacted Indigo to check if the airline is tracking the co-passengers of the infected software engineer working for a company in Bengaluru.
However, the airline did not respond immediately.
Karnataka health officials, however, earlier said they are tracking and trying to get in touch with all persons who had come in contact with the coronavirus-affected person as per protocol.
“We will keep them under observation and shift them to a quarantine facility if required,” Dr Prakash Kumar BG, joint director, monitoring communicable diseases in the state, was quoted as saying in India media.
