Chennai gets mayor after five years

Chennai: DMK's M. Subramaniam was sworn in as Chennai mayor yesterday, a post lying vacant for the past five years.

R. Sathyabama was elected deputy mayor of the Chennai Municipal Corporation. The mayor and the deputy mayor took office in the presence of minister in-charge of local government, M.K. Stalin, who was Chennai's last mayor.
