Casteist slur: Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, 17 others booked

Dubai: A case has been registered against Infosys co-founder Senapathy 'Kris' Gopalakrishnan and 17 others under the Prevention of SC/ST (Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe) Atrocities Act, in Karnataka, on Monday.

The complaint was filed by Durgappa, a member of the tribal Bovi community, according to Indian media.

A former faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Durgappa claimed he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case in 2014. He was subsequently dismissed from service.

According to the complaint registered at the Sadashivnagar police station, Durgappa was subjected to casteist abuse and threats by the accused. The accused in this case include former IISc Director Balaram, Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K V S, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.

Kris Gopalakrishnan is one of the founders of Infosys and was the CEO and managing director from 2007 to 2011 and vice chairman from 2011 to 2014.
