In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, Koyyada Ravi Teja, was fatally shot in Washington DC, according to media reports. The shooting, suspected to be carried out by unidentified assailants, occurred on Sunday.

Teja, a resident of Green Hills Colony, Rama Krishna Puram in Hyderabad, reportedly sustained fatal bullet injuries and died at the scene. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, sources said.

Media reports indicate that Teja moved to the United States in 2022 to pursue a Master's degree. After completing his studies, he was actively attending job interviews to kickstart his professional career.

The family is in complete shock following the news, Times Now reported.

K Chandramouli, father of the deceased, broke down while talking to Times Now. “I can’t speak, no father can. No one should face this situation, how he went and how he’s returning, my son,” the grieving man as quoted as saying.

Indian mission in Chicago said, “We are shocked and deeply sad at the murder of Indian Student Nukarapu Sai Teja. We demand immediate action against the culprits. Consulate will extend all possible help to the family and friends of the victim @IndianEmbassyUS @MEAIndia.”

Local police are investigating the motive behind the attack and are working to identify the perpetrators, according to officials.
