Typhoon Dolphin made landfall in eastern China on Sunday, meteorological authorities said, as torrential rain and high winds swept swathes of the densely populated coastline.

The centre of the typhoon made landfall near Yuhuan City in Zhejiang Province at about 5.30 pm (0930 GMT), the National Meteorological Centre said in an online post.
