Washington: On Friday, US President Donald Trump extended the deadline for the sale of ByteDance's US assets of TikTok, citing "tremendous progress" but the need for more work to secure approvals.

He expressed his desire to work with TikTok and China to finalise the deal and emphasized that he did not want the app to "go dark."
