Forbes’ 2025 power rankings: America on top, followed by China and Russia
On the global stage, the US remains the most powerful country in 2025, according to a Forbes ranking.
China and Russia take the second and third spots, respectively.
The rankings, conducted by BAV Group and Wharton School researchers alongside US News and World Report, evaluate countries based on leadership, economic might, political influence, global alliances, and military strength.
Dominance
The results reaffirm America's dominance, with China in close pursuit and Israel securing the 10th spot.
At No. 11 is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a population of 9.52 million, gross domestic product valued at $504 billion and a per capita GDP (PPP) of $83,903, as per the US News and World Report listing.
India — despite its booming economy and formidable military — lands at a surprising 12th place.
With the world’s fifth-largest economy, the fourth-largest military, and a population surpassing the US, China, and Russia, how did India miss the top 10?
While India has growing geopolitical influence, some analysts believe its relatively limited global military reach and cautious diplomacy may have cost it a higher ranking.
Power in 2025 is more than just tanks and trade deals or ships and chips — it’s about strategic alliances, economic resilience, and international leadership.
As the global stage shifts, these rankings spark debate: Who truly wields the most influence, and what will it take for challengers to climb higher?
According to this ranking method, the world’s most powerful countries aren’t just making headlines — they are the headlines. Whether they lead with diplomacy or dominance, one thing is certain: when these nations speak, the world listens.
