Woman dies after being hit by car in Sharjah

Sharjah: A 63-year-old woman has died after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road in Sharjah's Al Majaz 3 area, according to Sharjah Police on Tuesday.
The incident happened at around 7:50pm on Monday, police said.
The Pakistani woman was pinned under the wheels of the vehicle, a police official said.
She was transferred to the Al Kuwaiti hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police said that the driver of the speeding car was not paying attention to the road. The driver is currently under police custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Sharjah Police appealed to the public to observe road safety rules and urged drivers to give priority to pedestrians at road crossings.
