UAE weather update: Rain hits Al Ain as Suhail rises, marking seasonal shift
Showers sweep parts of Al Ain as UAE enters traditional transition from peak summer
Dubai: Rain fell across parts of Al Ain on Monday evening, including Sa’a, Al Fou’ah and the Khatm Al Shakla road, as unsettled summer weather continued on the day the Suhail star traditionally rises over the UAE.
Videos from the area showed showers sweeping roads in Sa’a and along Khatm Al Shakla, with rain also reported in Al Fou’ah. Other reports described some of the rainfall in Al Ain as heavy.

The latest showers followed days of rain across parts of the country despite intense August heat. Heavy rain was reported in Al Ain on Sunday as temperatures elsewhere in the UAE remained close to 50°C.
Monday's rainfall coincided with the traditional appearance of Suhail, or Canopus, on August 24, an astronomical marker long associated in the Arabian Peninsula with the beginning of the gradual retreat of the most intense summer heat.
The seasonal change, however, does not mean an immediate end to high temperatures. The transition typically unfolds over several weeks, with nights gradually becoming less hot and extreme daytime temperatures becoming less persistent.
Earlier Gulf News reports noted that the second half of the UAE summer is typically marked by rising humidity, while moist winds can encourage the development of convective clouds over the Hajar Mountains and bring seasonal thunderstorms to eastern areas.
The current showers continue a pattern seen over the past week, when moderate to heavy summer rain affected several parts of the UAE, including inland areas of Dubai and Al Ain.
