UAE weather: Red and yellow alerts issued for fog in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra

Dubai: Foggy weather conditions was reported over parts of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra region in the UAE, this morning. The Met office issued red and yellow alerts, warning that fog cover was expected over some internal areas till 9am.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) foggy weather conditions were reported over Abu Samrah and Al Wathba regions in Abu Dhabi, over Remah, Zaaba, Al Wiqan and Al Qou’ regions in Al Ain, and over Gasyoura, Tal Al Sarab regions in Al Dhafra.

The NCM also issued red alert over some areas in Al Ain.

Motorists have been urged to drive carefully due to fog formation causing deterioration in horizontal visibility.

The NCM said: “Visibility may drop further at times over some internal areas, till 9am today, December 24”.

According to the NCM, weather conditions across the country are expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with a chance of rainfall, especially over some northern, coastal and eastern areas.

Temperature highs in the coastal areas of the country will be between 22 and 26 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, temperature lows are expected to be between 9 to 14 degree Celsius, over coastal and island areas.

Light to moderate winds are to be expected with the speed reaching up to 35 km/hr in the coastal region.
