Dubai: Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during foggy conditions. They have urged drivers to adhere to the reduced speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Abu Dhabi Police urged caution due to low visibility from fog and emphasised the importance of following changing speed limits for safety.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has also urged motorists to follow traffic regulations due to the possibility of fog formation and reduced horizontal visibility.

In its weather update, the NCM stated that horizontal visibility may decrease further at times over some coastal and internal areas from 10:10pm on Friday, January 10, 2025, until 9:30am on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Driving in fog: Key safety tips

  • Stay to the right side of your lane to avoid oncoming traffic.

  • Maintain a safe speed and use your fog lights.

  • Use your turn signals when necessary to warn following vehicles.

  • Do not use high beams in fog, as they reduce visibility; use fog lights instead.

  • If you must stop, park completely off the road, away from traffic, and turn on your hazard lights.

  • Reduce pressure on the accelerator and use the brakes carefully if needed.
