Dubai: Researchers must look to future challenges and use tools that encourage reading, a forum heard on Wednesday.

The Police Officers’ Club hosted the Second Scientific Forum for Research and Decision-Making Support Centres at the Ministry of the Interior under the patronage of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Speaking at the forum, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, said researchers must look to future challenges.

Lt General Dahi said that scientific research was very important and supported decision making. He called on research centres not to neglect any part of society and to search for educational tools that encourage reading.

He added such centres needed to enhance their role in the decision-making process in developments taking place at various levels around the world. He said new challenges meant it had become necessary to focus on developing scientific research.

He said the police are focusing on customer satisfaction.

“We aim to offering security and safety for a happy society,” he added.

These new challenges need to be studied using scientific methods so their results can be used to draw up plans and security strategies.

Dr Mohammad Murad Abdullah, Director of the Decision-Making Support Centre at Dubai Police and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for the Research And Decision-Making Support Centres, talked about unreported crimes and their impact on society.

During workshops discussions focused on whether people who investigated crimes and attended crime scenes were affected by what they saw.
