Dh100 fine for men travelling in women’s compartment on Dubai Metro

Dubai: Men travelling in the newly expanded ‘women and children only’ compartments of the Dubai Metro will be fined Dh100.

The decision that took effect on March 1 seeks to deter men from boarding the ladies’ compartment, expecially during peak hours, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said.

The expanded women-only compartment comprises 15 seats and has space for 70 passengers to stand.

All directional signage at metro stations have been replaced so that the compartmentscan be easily distinguished.

A campaign is under way to educate riders about this new feature.
