Ajman: In a move to improve road safety and reduce motorcycle-related accidents, Ajman Police have introduced a new regulation mandating that all delivery motorcyclists must use only the first and second lanes from the right while driving on the emirate’s roads.

Delivery riders are now strictly prohibited from using the third and fourth lanes on roads. Under the UAE Federal Traffic Law, violators will face a fine of Dh400.

To ensure compliance, Ajman Police will utilise the “Ajman Dar Al Aman” surveillance system, in addition to smart gates and specialised patrols. Violations including straying into unauthorised lanes or weaving between vehicles will be recorded and penalised accordingly.

This regulation follows a series of awareness campaigns conducted by Ajman Police in recent years. These initiatives have targeted delivery companies and motorcycle riders, aiming to instill safer driving habits and reduce traffic incidents involving delivery bikes.

Authorities also reiterated warnings against dangerous driving behaviours such as overtaking between vehicles, driving on road shoulders, ignoring lane discipline, or failing to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. Ajman Police stressed that any actions endangering road users will not be tolerated.
