Sharjah: Sharjah City Municipality has strengthened its efforts to safeguard public health, conducting 12,256 inspections of food establishments during the first quarter of 2025.

These inspections, part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to health and safety standards, led to the closure of two food warehouses for storing banned products and violating safety regulations.

The violations uncovered included the possession of prohibited food items and goods not meeting required health and safety standards. The municipality swiftly acted by confiscating and safely disposing of these products. Jamal Jumaa Al Mazmi, Director of the Health Control and Safety Department, confirmed that the banned goods were seized before reaching the market. Both warehouses involved in the violation were immediately shut down, and the non-compliant products were destroyed through approved procedures.

“The inspections are carried out based on clear and thorough criteria covering food storage, hygiene, and staff practices, including mandatory health cards and food safety training,” said Al Mazmi. He emphasized that these inspections are critical in upholding Sharjah’s public health system.

Khalifa Bu Ganem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Inspection and Control Department, highlighted the effectiveness of the municipality’s inspection teams, which work together as part of a coordinated system to protect public health and the city’s reputation.
