Shaikh Sultan opens Sharjah Council session

Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, opened the second ordinary session of the eighth legislative chapter of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) on Thursday.

Present were Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Mohammad Ahmad Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), Abdullah Al Masoud, Speaker of Abu Dhabi Consultative Council, shaikhs and senior officials.

Ahmad Saeed Al Jarwan, secretary-general of the Consultative Council, read the text of Emiri Decree No. 64 / 2014 issued by the Ruler of Sharjah on convening the council.

In a keynote speech, Abdul Rahman Al Hajiri, chairman of the Consultative Council, said: “The SCC serves as a free forum for promoting consultation (Shura), and a major contributor to efforts aimed at achieving development, preserving gains and realising aspirations,” he said, emphasising the fact that the SCC members were looking forward to serving their nation and people.
