Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) health insurance cover for Emiratis — Saada (happiness) — is on track with over 95.000 Emiratis under its ambit, Dr Haider Al Yousuf, Director of Public Health Funding at DHA, said.
Sada is a smart health insurance programme launched in June 2015 with the aim of providing mandatory health insurance cover for Emiratis who were not part of any other government or private health programme. The programme, which covers 20 private hospital and 500 clinics in Dubai, provides mandatory preventive health screening and comprehensive health coverage that includes diabetes, hypertension and oncology screening, among others.
Dr Al Yousuf said: “So far, 95,481 Emiratis from Dubai have registered with Saada, with an average of 353 registrations a day. We have managed to reach more than 90 per cent of the targeted audience, who are Emiratis with no other medical care in any government or private health programme in Dubai,” he said
Since its launch, a total of 3,120 surgeries, with an average of 10 surgeries a day and an average of two baby deliveries a day, have been performed under the programme.
Approximately, 7,126 inpatient and 208,188 outpatients have been covered by the programme
Dr Al Yousuf added that Saada is the first insurance programme in the world to give access to medical care using a national identification card instead of the insurance card. Emiratis in Dubai can log on to the website www.saada.ae to register, using their national identity card or Saada’s smartphone application.
In addition to this smart health insurance cover, DHA has also launched medical apps for use by residents.
These include the Dubai Doctors app, which is designed and developed for tourist and residents aiming to find medical specialities and facilities in Dubai.
Another app, Sehhaty (my health), allows patients to view their laboratory health results and monitor their appointments, and Tifli (My baby), an application that aims to provide specialised services and information to pregnant women in Dubai.
All these apps were showcased by DHA along with its latest innovative services at a three-day exhibition in the city, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
