Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, officially launched the logo for the recently announced Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The logo was unveiled at the opening of Arab Health 2015 at the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) pavilion on Monday.

The university is located at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre, the seat of medical education and research at DHCC.

According to DHCC officials, the logo is a single letter ‘M’, the starting letter of His Highness’ name, represented bilingually – in English and Arabic. The logo reflects the symbol of infinity. It is set against a blue background, symbolising water and continuity. Together, the symbolism ties in the concept of infinity.

The philosophy of the logo underscores DHCC’s mission of enabling high-quality medical education and research.

Marwan Abedin, CEO, DHCC, said, “The Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences is established in line with Dubai Healthcare City Authority’s strategy to develop a sustainable workforce in the UAE and the region. It will offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for both Emiratis and expatriates.

“The first phase of the project will include two colleges — the College of Dental Medicine, which is operational, and offers postgraduate dentistry programmes accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the College of Medicine for undergraduate medical students. We will welcome the first batch of undergraduate medical students in September 2016.”
