In a bid to rectify issues pertaining to the recruitment of Indian Workers, A.K.Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) arrived on Wednesday in the UAE for a four-day visit.

His visit began with a meeting that featured around 25 prominent Foreign Employers (FEs) from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, who voiced their feedback on how to further improve e-Migrate, a system that FEs have to use to recruit blue-collar Indian workers.

“One of the changes that FEs had asked us to implement was to add more job titles along with their minimal referral wages to improve the system further, which we will soon execute,” Dinesh Kumar, First Secretary of Community Affairs at the Indian Embassy in the UAE, told Gulf News.

“Secondly, FEs had also proposed during the meeting reducing the time required for both processing the application for recruiting Indian workers and for obtaining an Immigration Clearance, which we are currently looking into as well,” he added.

The Secretary also met with Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

During his stay, which ends on Saturday, Agarwal will visit Indian labourers in Sharjah, and the Indian Workers Resource Centre in Dubai, which is run by the Indian Embassy in the UAE, to provide guidance and directions to Indian nationals in distress.

“This visit is of paramount importance as it looks after the welfare of the Indian workers living here in the UAE and aims to enhance their living conditions,” Kumar explained.

Agarwal’s visit to UAE is being coordinated by the Embassy of India in UAE and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
