Eid prayers in the UAE are likely around 15–20 minutes after sunrise
Dubai: The UAE Fatwa Council has confirmed that Eid Al Adha and Friday prayers will be held separately and at their designated times. While the ruling clarifies the prayer schedule when both occasions coincide, official Eid prayer timings have not yet been announced.
Although exact times are pending official confirmation, Eid prayers typically begin 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise. Here are the expected timings across the UAE:
Abu Dhabi: 5:50 am
Al Ain: 5:43 am
Dubai: 5:45 am
Sharjah: 5:44 am
Ajman: 5:44 am
Umm Al Quwain: 5:43 am
Ras Al Khaimah: 5:41 am
Fujairah: 5:41 am
In a statement issued on Friday, the Council addressed the longstanding debate among Islamic scholars regarding the obligations of Eid and Friday prayers when they fall on the same day. The ruling is grounded in verses from the Holy Quran and the Sunnah (teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him).
The Council noted that this position is supported by the majority of Islamic scholars and leading schools of jurisprudence, reaffirming its religious validity.
The Eid prayer consists of two rak’ahs (units of prayer) and includes extra takbeerat (declarations of “Allahu Akbar”). In the first rak’ah, seven takbeerat are recited after the opening takbeer and before Surah Al-Fatiha. In the second rak’ah, five takbeerat are recited after rising from sujood and before the next recitation.
The prayer is performed without an adhan (call to prayer) and is followed by a khutbah (sermon) that highlights the values of Eid—gratitude, sacrifice, and social unity.
Worshippers traditionally gather in large open areas or mosques, dressed in their finest attire, to celebrate the spiritual and festive spirit of Eid Al Adha.
