Dubai: Two Dubai schools — Dubai International Academy (DIA) and Raffles World Academy (RWA) — have reported the high International Baccalaureate (IB) results.
The top-scorer of DIA was Rohan Goel with 44 points. Rohan will soon be joining the prestigious University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Speaking to Gulf News, an elated Rohan said that he is “excited and thrilled” with his results, referring to the teachers at DIA as one of the main factors that helped him reach his true potential.
Around 17 per cent of students in DIA achieved a score of 38 points or more, and almost 76 per cent of the graduating class exceeded the world average of 30 points. DIA has nearly 40 students with a score of 36 or above and an average of 33.3 points.
Janan Mostajabi of RWA topped the batch with a 43-point score. Almost a third of the batch received more than 36 points and 69 per cent exceeded the world average of 30 points.
Around nine per cent of the students at RWA also achieved a score of above 40 points, one of whom is Zuhdi Al Khateeb, an Emirati student, who scored 41 points.
Al Khateeb is moving on to Royal College Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) to study Medicine.
The results reinforce the commitment of IB towards the holistic advancement of the Emirati youth in the host country.
Students of schools run by Innoventures Education will soon be joining top-tier universities including University of Pennsylvania, Royal College Surgeons Ireland, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Cambridge, Kings College London, University of California Berkley and University of Michigan. The IB Diploma Programme class of 2017 has obtained cumulative scholarships amounting to well over $3 million across both schools.
