Dubai: A simulated classroom will be built with donations to Dubai Cares at The Dubai Mall to symbolise how contributions help children in the developing world.

The brick-by-brick construction of the classroom will take place every time a Dh50 donation is made at the Dubai Cares stand in the Star Atrium from June 30 to July 19.

The classroom is part of the Dubai Cares “What if?” Ramadan campaign and symbolises the change the philanthropic organisation is leading in 35 countries.

In addition, contributors will have the opportunity to leave personalised messages on the bricks as part of the classroom-building exercise.

Visitors to the stand who make donations will also be able to get their pictures taken while participating in the activity. Pictures will be pinned on a photo wall at the stand and hard copies will be handed to participants as souvenirs.

The activity also features an area where children can paint and pin their artwork on to a dedicated wall.

Dubai Cares has created the hashtag “#whatif” for its Ramadan campaign and encourages the UAE community to spread the word through social media in order to increase awareness and donations.

Contributions to the Dubai Cares Ramadan campaign can be made through more than a dozen ways, including donations via SMS and donating Dh5 or more of your purchase at select outlets.
