A senior official at the Ministry of Education yesterday denied there was a law that says expatriate teachers in public schools who have served more than 25 years will be sacked.

Mohammad Al Fardan, Human Resources Manager at the Ministry of Education, was clarifying a report that said teachers who had served for 26 years had been dismissed.

"We carried out these instructions in 2002 to 2003 and 2003 to 2004. The Ministry had instructions to end the service of teachers because of their age. This year, we did not end the services of any teachers because there were no instructions from the higher authorities. But there is no law on the issue."
