Open days showcased available job opportunities through the 'Nafis' program platform
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) organized 50 open employment days for Emirati jobseekers in the private sector during the first half of 2025, with the participation of more than 160 private companies. The events saw strong turnout from jobseekers, who were interviewed directly by company representatives.
These open days showcased available job opportunities through the “Nafis” program platform and were held in cooperation with the program, local human resources departments, neighborhood councils across the emirates, as well as Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, University of Dubai, and Fatima College of Health Sciences.
Farida Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for National Human Resources Employment at MoHRE, affirmed the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to organizing open employment days. She emphasized the high credibility and trust these events enjoy among both citizens and employers, noting the Ministry’s direct oversight of the job opportunities presented, wage levels, and follow-up on the hiring process after interviews. This ensures the seriousness of participating companies. Al Ali praised the Ministry’s partners for their continued support in ensuring the success of the initiative.
She highlighted that these open days offer significant advantages, most notably by enabling Emiratis to engage in direct job interviews and facilitating companies’ ability to meet Emiratization targets by connecting them with skilled and specialized local talent.
The Ministry continues to identify suitable job opportunities in coordination with private sector partners, ensuring interviews are based on real vacancies. It also tracks interview outcomes and employment rates and addresses any challenges, all in pursuit of optimal results. The growing interest among Emiratis in participating reflects their seriousness and dedication to contributing meaningfully to sustainable development and the national economy.
Qualitative Emiratization: A government priority
According to its official website, MoHRE stated that enhancing the employment and empowerment of Emiratis remains a top priority. To accelerate Emiratization, the Ministry launched the “Accelerated Qualitative Emiratisation and Direct Employment” initiative targeting key strategic sectors. This initiative is rooted in a shared sense of national and societal responsibility and aims to foster effective partnerships and role alignment across stakeholders involved in Emiratization.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting businesses in these targeted sectors through a comprehensive range of assistance to help them fulfill their Emiratization responsibilities, contributing to increased employment of Emiratis in the private sector and the achievement of national Emiratisation goals aligned with UAE Vision 2021.
The Ministry also pointed out that the retail sector is among the UAE’s most vital strategic economic sectors due to its capacity to generate a large number of promising and stable job opportunities that align with Emiratis’ career aspirations. Many Emiratis working in the retail sector have proven their competence and have advanced to senior roles within their companies.
MoHRE aims to further expand employment opportunities in retail, particularly by continuing to organize open employment days in collaboration with federal and local government entities that regulate targeted economic sectors, including retail.
Training programs to qualify Emiratis
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to supplying the retail sector with qualified jobseekers, especially through training and development programs designed to enhance citizens’ skills. These also include retraining and empowering individuals who did not succeed in initial interviews during the employment days.
MoHRE commended the cooperation of numerous retail companies that actively participated in the open employment days held as part of the second phase of the Accelerated Qualitative Emiratization and Direct Employment initiative, which has attracted significant interest from both male and female Emirati jobseekers.
