Student orientation will give students opportunity to explore campus, meet faculty
Abu Dhabi: Khalifa University (KU) has announced it is planning to hold its new student orientation for graduate and undergraduate students on September 4, 2012.
New students, and their families will have the opportunity to explore the campus, visit the student accommodation, classrooms, laboratories, research centres and libraries. They will also get the chance to meet with faculty and academic advisors.
“We look forward to welcoming this year’s batch of new students,” said Dr Arif Al Hammadi, executive vice president for Khalifa University. “Our undergraduate students are proud to be part of a university that holds His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed the President’s name, who supports and encourages our sons and daughters to pursue high level of education and knowledge.”
All students at Khalifa University enjoy a number of benefits including having access to world-class research centres and free laptops. Students are offered several educational opportunities in science and technology related fields, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The university is also committed to providing a number of international study and internship opportunities with leading partners across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
This year also marks the first year that Khalifa University will be offering an undergraduate degree in Civil Infrastructure and Environmental Engineering. The degree will focus on teaching students to plan, design, and supervise the construction of a wide variety of facilities, such as space stations and launching facilities, offshore structures, bridges, buildings, tunnels, highways, transit systems, dams, airports, and irrigation projects.
Students graduating with this qualification will have wide opportunities to work in several industries in the UAE and around the world.
