Teenager falls to death from 21st floor balcony

Sharjah: A teenager died after falling down from the 21st floor balcony of a building in Sharjah, police said Thursday.

Police said the the 16-year-old American boy fell from the balcony of his family home while he was talking a picture of the Khalid Lagoon.

Police said that the boy, a photography enthusiast, wanted to capture the expanse of the Khalid Lagoon in the frame and stood on a ladder to get a better shot.

"The young boy was standing on a ladder on the balcony when he lost his balance and fell down," police said.

The accident took place at 6pm on Tuesday, according to Sharjah Police said.

Neighbours and residents informed the Al Buhaira police station.

The boy's father works as a hotel manager and has two other children. The case has been forwarded to the public prosecution for further investigation.
