Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah traffic court has ordered a man to pay blood money of Dh800,000 to his victims' families after finding him guilty of killing four people and injuring 28 in a car accident on April 12 in Ras Al Khaimah, a judiciary official told Gulf News on Wednesday.

The official said the accident happened as the Emirati motorist was trying to avoid a cat on the road during his commute to Dubai. "He veered suddenly and hit a minivan travelling on the road, transporting workers."

The motorist, 26-year-old M.S, was on his way to work, which he had started recently.

He cut into the minivan, which was carrying cleaning company workers, forcing the driver to ram into a lamp post in the Shaam area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The accident resulted in four workers being killed and 28 injured according to Colonel Abdullah Al Munkis, Director of Traffic and Patrols at the Directorate General of Central Operations at RAK Police.
