Defendant shouted at woman saying ‘I am the King’ and forced himself on her
Dubai: A man, nicknamed ‘The King’, has been jailed for a year for having forced sex with a waitress, who claimed that he raped her in the back seat of his car.
The 25-year-old Pakistani man, S.S., became acquainted with the 29-year-old Filipina at her workplace in a mall where he told her he could have her hired for a higher salary where he worked in July.
“He said he was the king and everybody calls him the king when I refused to have sex with him in his car. Then he forced me to the back seat and raped me twice,” testified the Filipina.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted S.S. of having sex with the Filipina despite his having entered a not guilty plea.
Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi cleared S.S. of threatening to kill the woman.
“I did not have sex with her and I did not threaten to kill her,” he told court.
According to Wednesday’s ruling, the accused was handed a lenient punishment after he provided the court with a written waiver from the Filipina.
The accused will be deported following the completion of his punishment.
The 29-year-old woman said she and her countrywoman provided the defendant with their contact details after he promised to have them hired at his workplace for higher salaries.
“He communicated with me on WhatsApp for a while and then he started discussing personal matters. He sent me love messages and asked me if I was in a relationship or if I had ever had a boyfriend. I blocked him on WhatsApp and stopped answering him. One day my colleague told me that she spotted him following her to the building where we live. He visited me at work and blamed me for not communicating with him … I scolded him and asked him to stay away because I did not want to lose my job. I asked him to stop harassing me when he phoned me once at 2am. Then he told me that he was waiting under the building … so I went down to put an end to his harassment. He asked me to go for a ride with him or he wouldn’t stop harassing or chasing me. During that time he told me that he loved me and desired me. I told him I wasn’t interested in being his girlfriend. He parked in a dark area behind a hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road …. he shouted at me ‘I am the king and I do what I want’ when I refused to have sex with him. He then raped me the first time. When I tried to put on my clothes, he yelled at me and raped me again,” she testified.
The woman’s aunt overheard her crying and telling her mother what had happened to her on Skype before they reported the matter to the police.
Wednesday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
