Lawyer says client not involved in DIC deals

Last updated:

Dubai: The ex-sales manager of Dubai Industrial City (DIC) did not request Dh17 million in unlawful commissions for selling/reselling properties and abuse his authority as a public-sector employee, his lawyer, Dr Abdullah Al Saeedi told the Dubai Court of First Instance on Saturday.

He argued that the DIC was a licensed private company and so his client was not guilty.

The Public Prosecution's arraignment sheet mentioned that A.A. was responsible for selling and leasing industrial and commercial properties owned by DIC.

The suspect allegedly collected the money in cheques or through bank transfers to the account of an electronics company that was registered in the names of his sister and mother. The defendant denied this.

The ruling will be heard next month.
