Dubai Police building sophisticated forensic laboratory
Dubai: Police will establish the 'forensic laboratory of the era' to keep pace with the developments in the world of crimes and achieving justice, chief of Dubai Police announced yesterday.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim announced that Dubai Police had started the procedures of establishing a hi-tech forensic and crime sciences laboratory, which will see the light of day soon.
He told a press conference that a team has been sent to the United States to prepare a comprehensive study on the needed human resources and equipment for the new laboratory.
"The project is currently on the implementation map and the design will be discussed with specialised consultants," he said.
Lt Gen Dahi said the new laboratory will replace the current laboratory and will be an independent building with an initial budget of Dh300million, while the final budget will be decided after the completion of the designs.
The laboratory will be located at the Dubai Police's General Headquarters in Al Ghusais. It will offer cutting-edge technology to police in solving crime.
He said the laboratory will carry out various kinds of tests.
