20-year old seriously injured as his car hits camels in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati sustained serious injuries after his car hit a herd of camels that suddenly came on to Al Kharran Street in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old Emirati could not control his four-wheel drive when he suddenly came into the middle of stray camels, said First Lieutenant Ahmad Al Jermen, an officer on duty at the Traffic Section at Al Digdaga Police Station.
He said one of the camels died after being hit and landed on the vehicle's roof. The driver sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the intensive care unit.
Major Ahmad Al Shomaili, who heads the Traffic Section at Al Digdaga Police Station, said stray animals remain a key reason for accidents in the emirate, especially at night.
He said 50 road accidents have been reported in Ras Al Khaimah since the beginning of 2008.
