Al Ain: Al Ain Zoo yesterday announced free entry for children under 12 years of age and unveiled an array of programmes for the Eid Al Adha holidays.

The children, who must be accompanied by an adult, will be allowed to enter the zoo free of cost between October 26 and 28, said an official of the zoo.

The zoo has planned Eid programmes offering action-packed entertainment to visitors. It will be open with extended hours over the holiday weekend from 10am to 10pm. There will be cultural performances set to begin daily at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 8pm.

The programme have been designed to celebrate the diverse cultures the zoo’s animals hail from, commencing with an African dance, followed by a group of Indian dances, the traditional dabka and ending with a performance of the UAE’s national dance harbiya. An exciting fire dance performance will also take place every hour from 7.30pm onwards.

The zoo will also host eagle and falcon presentations, bird and parrot shows, photo opportunities with parrots, Ahlan services, and more, in addition to the opportunity to witness the beautiful and diverse collection of animals growing increasingly energetic as the weather cools.

Animal lovers, said the official, can also continue enjoying the zoo’s year-round attractions: the Elezba children’s farm which allows children to get up close with their favourite animals; and the giraffe feeding, which offers a uniquely interactive wildlife experience.

The zoo has already announced extended opening hours during the Eid holidays. Its regular opening hours from 9am to 8pm will resume from October 29 after the holidays.
