Ranbir Kapoor is the son of popular stars of yesteryear, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh.

He started his career by assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black before being launched as a lead hero in Bhansali's Saawariya opposite Sonam Kapoor.

His debut film didn't live up to the expectations but he won tremendous critical acclaim and audience appreciation.

He swept the Best Debutant award at all awards functions this year.

He is at present dating Deepika Padukone and the couple can be seen together on screen for the first time in Bachna Ae Haseeno.

Even before giving his first hit, Ranbir is much in demand not only for his acting prowess but also his adorable looks.

Favourite holiday destination: New York

New York (below) will always be my favourite holiday destination as I have studied there and have spent a lot of time in the lovely city.

So whenever I get an opportunity, I would always love to visit New York despite the fact that it is a real long journey from Mumbai.

Staying in New York on your own teaches you to be independent and I definitely consider it a great city.

Memorable moments in New York

I think studying in college has its own share of memories and when the college is in New York, then these memories become more special. I cherish my college days.

What not to do in New York

Just like any other fast-paced and developed city, New York has its share of grey areas or pitfalls, which is best avoided.

Three must-haves on a holiday

Passport, sufficient dollars, a credit card and a suitcase of travel essentials.

Any other favourite destination?

I recently visited Italy during the making of Bachna Ae Haseeno and have fallen in love with the place, especially Venice and Puglia. The food, people and culture are fabulous in Italy.
