Sleeping pods were first common in Japan, but have gained some popularity over the last few years. They are a great option for those who want to save money, but also enjoy the convenience of your own private space.

Here's our list of cities where you can experience affordable and cosy capsule hotels.


1. Nonze Hostel, Pattaya, Thailand

The Walking Street Pattaya is located only five minutes away from the property. It is a rustic-looking modern minimalist hotel for savvy traveller. It has different lounges for relaxing and entertainment, an international power point, good breakfast, and clean bathrooms.

They offer spacious double and single capsules and a slide before checkout.


2. Anshin Oyado, Japan

Who says capsule hotels cannot come with luxury features? Anshin Oyado is located three minutes from the Shinjuku station in Tokyo. It offers Simmons' bedding in all rooms, LCD TV, high quality headphones, a plug for charging, automatically lockable door system per capsule, and lockers with the latest vein authentication system for valuables.

The best part? There is a free misting sauna and artificial hot springs you can try while staying there.


3. Cube Capsule Hostel, Moscow, Russia

5. Dream Lodge in Lavender, Singapore

It is located just five to ten minute-walk to the Lavender Subway station. Each cube is quite secure with big beds for your comfort. Big lockers are hidden under the bed for your belongings, too.

They give you a purple wristband that is actually your key fob to lock and unlock your cube's door. It is actually very sleek which reduces the risk of losing your key.


6. CityHub, Amsterdam, Netherlands

This cube hotel is welcoming and eccentric at the same time. This is a great place to spend a few nights even for couples. It is only a few minutes’ walk to the nearest tram stop and only 10 to 15 minutes to visit the "Ten Kate" market.

Shower rooms and toilets are in separate booths where there are always available towels, hair dryer and iron, and guests are provided with free phile-router mobile so you can have internet access as you roam Amsterdam.

Two minutes away from the MRT Taipei Bridge Station and Sanhe Night Market, this hotel offers guests a personal space with their own LCD and locker in each pod. There is a common social area with drinks, snacks and board games for hire.

There are stalls for a shared bathroom and a free storage is also available for bigger luggage.


9. CAPSULE by Container, Malaysia

They have separate bunk beds for male and female-only use. These are for solo travellers looking for an affordable yet safe and comfortable stay.

Each occupant uses the shared bathroom but all capsules have single or double size beds, a personal locker, privacy blind, foldable desk with mirror, electric power point, free toiletries, reading lamps and free Wi-Fi.


10. The Capsule Hotel, Sydney, Australia

Centrally located within a ten minute walk from Sydney's tourist attractions. It's a go-to place if you are travelling by yourself. Each capsule has either a front or side entrance and is roomy with air-conditioning, a power-outlet, adjustable lighting, mirror, small table, TV, headphones outlet, and a small safe.

You'll also have your own locker outside which can keep your large bag and other travel stuff.


11. Galaxy Pod Hostel, Reykjavík, Iceland

This futuristic-inspired hostel with pods inside is just a 15-minute walk to the central part of the city. Although there are plenty of restaurants nearby, guests can prepare their own food in the common kitchen.

There are secure lockers inside the pods for your convenience.
