British band Stereophonics will headline a gig at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on May 11, joined by hip hop artist Plan B.

Known for their energetic live performances, Stereophonics gained popularity with their debut album 20 years ago, Word Gets Around. They have followed it up with hits like Keep The Village Alive, Just Enough Education To Perform and Pull The Pin.

The band is currently composed of lead singer Kelly Jones, bassist and guitarist Richard Jones, rhythm guitarist Adam Zindani and drummer Jamie Morrison, having seen changes in its line-up following the death of its founder Stuart Cable in 2010.

Stereophonics is currently on its world tour, following the release of their latest album, Scream Above The Sounds.

Plan B, whose real name is Ben Drew, whose many genres including soul, pop, rock and even has some jazz influences, also moonlights as an actor, film director and producer in his spare time.

He first emerged as a recording artist with his critically acclaimed debut album Who Needs Actions When You Got Words in 2006. His second studio album The Defamation of Strickland Banks went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Plan B heads to the emirate following the release of his new album, Heaven Before All Hell Breaks Loose, that is out on May 4. We can probably expect to hear tracks from his latest effort at the Dubai gig.

Local bands to perform on the day include Jaye & Foe, Paddyman and friends of Irish Paddy Style fame, along with the multi-award winning acoustic folk rock singer-songwriter Abbo who has shared stages with The Kooks, Gipsy Kings and more. Plus, local boy Aman, a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Dubai, will also take to the stage.

Tickets start at Dh399 and are available online. The event starts at 1pm.
