When artist met marathon man

Dubai : Haile Gebrselassie, winner of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, finally met the artist who has been creating quality caricatures of him.

The Ethiopian runner said he had wanted to meet Ramachandra Babu, Gulf News Senior Illustrator, ever since he saw a definitive caricature of himself in the newspaper last year.

Gebrselassie got his wish on Friday and Babu had the chance to meet the super athlete who had inspired him to once again draw a caricature of him for Thursday's Gulf News Sport pages.

On being presented with a copy of the caricature, Gebrselassie broke into a smile and warmly shook hands with Babu.

Many Ethiopian runners, who were waiting for the customary massage after the run, surrounded Babu and requested for a copy of the caricature.
