Ocean Fair mark UAE National Day as champions

Cricketers celebrate occasion with seven-a-side tournament

Dubai: Cricketers of different nationalities celebrated the UAE National Day at a seven-a-side cricket tournament with Ocean Fair International defeating DHL Cricket Club to lift the City Diamond 7A side cricket Cup. The 17th edition of this tournament was held at the Ocean Fair Sports Club Grounds at Dubai Investment Park this weekend. This seven-a-side tournament have always been keenly fought.

Batting first, DHL posted 43 for 5 in 5 overs with Fahim Ahmad top scoring with 23 runs. Chasing the target, Ocean Fair made 45/3 in 3.4 overs. Waheed Ahmad (13) and Rachi Jacob (11) were the main scorers. Ajmal Khan took all the three wickets that fell for eight runs.

The tournament was organised by Ocean Fair Sports Club, and all prizes were donated by Deepak Arora of City Diamond and Freddy Sidhwa of Ocean Fair International, with senior umpire Tariq Butt as chief organiser.

DHL had reached the final defeating Salman Cool Boys by five wickets, while Ocean Fair conquered the DG Lions by six wickets in another tournament.
