Dubai: Desert Cubs and G Force Cricket Academy cricketers stole the show in the second edition of the quick cricket annual league tournament, organised by Desert Cubs.

This two-month long tournament, held in Desert Cubs Cricket Academy’s (DCCA) Sharjah and Dubai venues, was contested by UAE’s leading cricket academies such as Zayed Cricket Academy, G Force Cricket Academy, Madina Victoria Cricket Academy, Its Just Cricket Academy, MS Dhoni Cricket Academy and FLCA Cricket Academy. The tournament was held for various age categories — Under 11, 13, 15 & 17.

Hosts Desert Cubs swept the under-11, under-13 and under-17 titles while G Force emerged as the champions in the under-15 category.

Speaking to Gulf News, Presley Polonnowita, Head Coach of DCCA, said: “The tournament was divided into two segments as General League and Super League. In the General League, Desert Cubs regular teams from Sharjah, Dubai and Fujairah played internal matches while the Super League was an external tournament inviting other academies. All the super league matches were held on turf wickets at our Sharjah venue while the general league inter-branch games were held at our Dubai Centre at Deira International School. We managed to host nearly 70 matches in our Dubai and Sharjah venues.”

Desert Cubs’ Tigers, Titans and Cheetahs won the under-11, 13 & 17 titles respectively. G-Force Cricket Academy displayed their might to emerge as the champions in the under-15 category defeating Zayed Cricket Academy from Abu Dhabi in a closely contested final.
