Dubai: UAE all-rounder Krishna Chandran carried the confidence from playing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 recently into the domestic cricket when he cracked three knocks of 75-plus runs.

In the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association’s second Car Fare Rent A Car Twenty20 tournament, he played for Fanatics Cricket Club and cracked an unbeaten 80 runs and bagged three wickets against Taha Cricket Club to walk away with the man of the match award.

In Sharjah Cricket Council’s Bukhatir League, Chandran cracked 81 for his employers Fly Emirates team against star studded Phoenix Cricket team. In the Dubai Cricket Council’s 50-over tournament at the 7evens ground, he cracked an unbeaten 75 for Fly Emirates against the formidable Ibsons team.

Speaking to Gulf News after the knocks, Chandran said: “Playing in the World Cup has lifted my confidence to a different level. I can absorb any pressure easily and play my strokes freely. I can feel the huge improvement in my game.”

Chandran is also focused on improving his bowling too. “I had taken three wickets in Umm Al Quwain. I want to improve more in all areas of my game. The biggest advantage of the World Cup is the chance I got to play against top class bowling and bowl at world class batsmen. I am carrying that experience into domestic cricket and hence feel so much improved as a player,” added Chandran.

The 41st edition of the Bukhatir League is in full swing with some outstanding individual performances. A five-wicket haul from Jameel Ahmed gave Abu Dhabi Gymkhana a huge 167-run victory over Edible Arrangement in a Group C match while Niresh Fernando smashed a quick-fire 94 to help NMC defeat Power Horse by a comfortable seven wickets in a Group D match. UAE spinner Shadeep Silva bagged four wickets while Nisar Khan claimed three to guide Fly Emirates to a convincing 92-run victory over Red Flowers Tourism in a Group A match.
