Dubai: Top talents from last season’s du Football Champions tournament arrived in Spain on Thursday for a 21-day camp where they will play matches against the likes of Sevilla and Malaga’s youth teams. Scouts will also be on hand to invite the best players for trials.

This is the third annual du La Liga High Performance Centre (HPC) trip, and it features the largest delegation to date with 48 players ranging from 12 to 17. Under-14s will also be present for the first time, enabling players to potentially get spotted a lot earlier.

HPC coach David Iglesias, said: “We invest year-round in developing the skills of the top youth footballers across the UAE in preparation for this camp, during which we expose them to a gruelling training programme and organise competitive matches against some of the top youth teams in LaLiga. This gives these players the best exposure to professional football. During our third season we are confident with our team’s development and look forward to a successful camp.”

The team will train twice a day and play Cadiz on August 11 followed by Sevilla, Almeria, Granada and Malaga on August 24.

The du Football Champions tournament is a UAE-wide initiative aimed at identifying talent throughout local schools and communities with the view to providing them with a platform towards professionalism. For information visit www.dufc.ae
