Dubai: There was a rare double and a new champion as Rahul Mohnani and Rithik Jalali capped a fine conclusion to the 2018 Hasan Baddar Squash Championship held at the Al Nasr Leisureland (ANL) squash courts.
The Dream Uniforms and Head-sponsored event saw Mohnani claim the top honours in the Division One and Two with comparative ease. Mohnani got the better of Nitin Ramchandani 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 in the Division Two final after winning the Division One title with an equally emphatic 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 victory over Kashif Murad.
The other standout of the competition was a gutsy 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8 win from Jalali to clinch the boy’s under-19 crown from Adham Al Wassimy.
The Super Division final turned out to be a thriller with world number 246 Ahmad Al Karimeli getting the better of former British Junior champion Jonathan Underhill in four games to win 14-12, 11-8, 7-11, 21-19 in a final last one hour and 12 minutes.
The tournament was organised by ANL coach Faheem Khan under the supervision of the UAE Squash and Racquets Association (UAE SRA) with the support of Al Nasr Leisureland. CT Matthew, Operations Manager of ANL gave away the prizes in the presence of sponsors’ representatives.

Boy’s U-19: Rithik Jalali bt Adham Al Wassimy 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8.
Women’s Open: Sabrina Frank Lobo bt Tiya Ghandi 3-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-2.
Division 3: Robert Lunday bt Mehul Panicker 11-5, 11-3, 11-6.
