Nine-year-old Dubai schoolboy holds his own on international stage
Dubai: Dubai schoolboy Jamie Day finished second out of 42 drivers in the European Micro Max Final at the Speedworld Track in Austria last month.
The nine-year-old reigning UAE Rotax Micro Max champion finished just 0.083 seconds adrift of Mateusz Lenart in the final after qualifying fourth. He also claimed the final’s fastest lap.
“It was tough competition all weekend, with some very tough drivers out there,” said Day, who races for Energy UAE Kart Team and attends Repton School. “Fourth to second in the final is a good result. I am happy and proud to take home the [runners-up] trophy.”
Day’s attentions now turn to the 2015/16 UAE Rotax Max Mini Class.
