Sharjah:

Al Embrator’s convincing 4-1 win against Al Jawareh saw them lift the Second Sharjah Ramadan Football Championship (SRFC) that concluded in front of a packed stadium at the Sharjah Sports Club on Monday.

The new champions received their trophy and cash prize of Dh200,000 from Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council in the presence of Brigadier Saif Mohammad Al Ziri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Shaikh Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman, Sharjah Sports Club and Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, among others.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the tournament saw Al Embrator stand out as the only team to remain unbeaten while scoring an amazing 38 goals.

In the final, Mohammad Obaid opened the scoring in the fourth minute while placing past Ahmad Al Baloushi in the Al Jawareh goal. Mohammad Bouldai doubled the lead in the 15th minute as Al Embrator led 2-0 at half-time.

Serbian Marco Berge headed home to make it 3-0 in the first minute of the second period, only to see Al Jawareh pull one back in the sixth minute through Diego Favero. But Mohammad Huzam put the issue beyond doubt in the 12th minute of the second half.

Al Embrator’s Kuwaiti player Abdul Rahman Fahd led the individual awards of Dh5,000 each when he bagged the top scorer in the tournament prize with a tally of 14 goals, while his teammate Jaber Mohammad walked away with the best goalkeeper prize. And Egypt’s Al Moataz Bellah Abdul Samei offered some sort of consolation to Al Jawareh when he took the best player of the tournament gong.
