Dubai: With the UAE's new sailing calendar set to launch this month, Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, (DOSC), has announced that epi International will be mast-head sponsors for the 2008-2009 Open Series.

Consisting of 16 "Acts", it starts with a major regatta on September 12 and 13. The series represents the only full season sailing competition in the region and targets keen sailors of keelboats and dinghies from all UAE sailing clubs.

Split into 4 divisions, the epi International Open Series encourages yachts of most shapes and sizes, from fifty foot racers through to more modest dinghies.

Open to all

Each division will offer points and prizes for individual Acts, culminating in an overall winner for each division next May.

Keith Thompson, Director of epi International, said, "The series is truly open to all yachtsmen and dinghy sailors. As a keen sailor myself, I was motivated to create this event with the clear synergies we see existing between our business and competitive sailing.

"epi International is a high performance investment company focused on results.

"Just like many of the competitors that will take part in the series, the winners will display a strong belief in teamwork, determination, skill, the will to win and having the right tools to succeed."

Registrations for the series are being accepted at DOSC with the co-ordination provided by a team of seasoned experts led by the club's Rear Commodore, David Rostant.

He said, "DOSC is delighted with the support epi International has consistently provided. It offers competitive sailors even more reasons to take to the water this season."

Apart from competitive fun, the organisers are planning a host of activities to keep land-lovers happy.
