UAE girls team will not be flying to China

Guangzhou: Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the UAE girls' karate team will not be making the trip to China for the Asian Games.

No reason was given by her entourage for the non-participation.

Having won the silver medal at the 2006 Games in Doha, Shaikha Maitha was supposed to participate here in the women's karate competition starting from tomorrow.

The remaining two girls of the UAE team — Randa Emam and Haya Sameer Juma — will also not be making the trip.

Shaikha Maitha and the girls' team was scheduled to participate in the women's taekwondo and karate competitions.
