Dubai: Shanas and Al Zahab topped the two halves of the second heat of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race held off the Mina Seyahi waters of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), late on Friday.

Owned by the Oman Ministry of Sports and skippered by Majid Amer Al Mu’amari, Shanas topped the first heat while finishing ahead of the F3 Team skippered by Khalaf Butti Musabeh Al Ghashaish and Wadi Al Siji that is owned by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Al Sharqi and led by Salim Obaid Ahmad Al Zahmi.

In the second half of the heat it was Al Zahab all the way as its skipper and owner Ahmad Ebrahim Rashid found a perfect line to finish ahead of Muzahem that is owned by Shaikh Saqr Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi and skippered by Hamad Ahmad Ahmadouh while leaving the Ebrahim Sultan Ebrahim Al Marzouqi-skippered AD Team in third place.

The race was without any incidents as the podium finishers found the 3km course set inside The Palm heading towards the Mina Seyahi coastline of DIMC. After two heats it is Shanas who is heading the overall standings with maximum points after winning a race each.

Friday’s race had to be divided into two separate heats due to a strong field of 44 boats. At the end of the race, Khalid Bin Dasmal was joined by Hezaim Al Qamzi and Mohammad Al Merri, the newly-appointed Director of Sports, DIMC, to present the trophies to the top three finishers.
