Serbia's Ikodinovic in critical condition
Belgrade: Serbian waterpolo player and Olympic medal hope Danilo Ikodinovic was in critical condition on Saturday after suffering multiple head and arm injuries in a motorcycle accident, Belgrade media reported.
"The eight-hour operation took all night and it involved a team of surgeons," head of the Novi Sad emergency centre Zoran Djermanov was quoted as saying by Beta news agency.
"His condition is stable but his life is still in danger and we can't make any predictions at this time," he said.
Gold medal
The 31-year old crashed his motorcycle into a passenger vehicle while overtaking a tractor at the northern Serbian town of Kac, near it's second-biggest city Novi Sad, on Friday. Ikodinovic, who has won a haul of medals for his country in various major competitions, was set to take part in the Beijing Olympics in August after capturing the World League with Serbia earlier this month.
He won Serbia's athlete of the year award in 2005 after steering the men's waterpolo team to the gold medal at the world championship in Montreal.
