Dubai: Sultan Saeed Hareb skippered Sulaimani to victory in the third heat of the Dubai Traditional 22ft (6.7m) Dhow Sailing Race held off the Mina Seyahi waters on Saturday.

Owned by Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sulaimani was always in control as Hareb guided his dhow leeward and caught a good draft to finish ahead of the chasing pack.

Ghalais, owned by Majid Abdullah Al Hossani and skippered by Ali Esmail Yousuf Al Hammadi, came second, while Haddad — skippered by Ali Thani Al Rumaithi and owned by Ahmad Thani Al Rumaithi — came in third to complete the podium.

Al Iz, owned and skippered by Sultan Ahmad Khadim Al Muhairi, finished fourth and Obaid Juma Al Ahbab Al Rumaithi’s Al Za’eem fifth.

Ali Juma Ali Bin Gulaitha, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), presented the trophies to the winners at the end of the race at the DIMC premises.
