Detroit: The Detroit Red Wings edged the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 in overtime on Wednesday to pick up their first win in three games on the way to regaining top spot in the Western Conference.

Henrik Zetterberg scored the winner with his second goal of the game, an angled snapshot that beat Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo on the short side.

"It was nice to do that, see a change-up go in," Zetterberg told reporters. "It wasn't the hardest shot but it found a way home."

The victory lifted the Red Wings one point clear of the Dallas Stars at the top of the Western Conference and ended a four-game winning streak for the Canucks.

"You look at the standings, everything's gotten pretty condensed here, so every point matters right now," Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard said. "We battled hard, we never gave up. It was a great win."

Zetterberg sparked the Red Wings, who overcame one-goal deficits twice in the third period.
