Luana Alonso, kicked out of Paris Olympics for inappropriate behaviour, announces return to swimming

Paris: Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso was at the centre of a controversy at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She was later kicked out of the Olympic village supposedly for 'inappropriate behaviour.'

Soon after the incident she announced her retirement but recently she provided indications of a potential return to professional swimming.

The 21-year-old has represented South American nation in the women's 100m butterfly in the French capital but failed to reach the semi-finals in her event.

Soon after the event, it was reported that Luana left the Olympic village to visit the Disneyland Paris without the official permission.

She even wore clothing of her own choosing and not the official team uniform which further frustrated team officials.

During the Games, Alonso went viral on social media for posting glamorous photos from around Paris and posing with fellow athletes, including tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

In another report she had also expressed her interest to compete under the United States flag instead of Paraguay's.

Now, Alonso has shared her desire to come back, and she said so in a post on her Instagram story.

“Next year I’m coming back, but I don’t know if I will be back to competitive swimming.”
